About

Artist Statement

My original works reflect my love for texture, intricate design details, and a complex use of colour and materials. I primarily work with Merino wool, using the wet felting technique. I enjoy incorporating silks that are either hand-painted, dyed, or discovered in thrift stores. My goal is to create artfully crafted designs that provide a visual experience, evoking sensations of calmness, energy, humour, and visual wonder. The most relatable pieces I make often weave in a storyline inspired by my own life experiences.

The transformative power of felt, and the journey from fibre to form, fuels my ongoing search for innovation and personal growth. I’m fortunate to have taken over 40 online courses with distinguished international felt artists. My newer works are bolder and more intricate, created with greater confidence and an elevated level of skill.

About Lynn

My engagement with art started early; I designed doll clothes as a child and created garments from both new and repurposed fabrics during my teenage years. I studied nutrition and spent over thirty years at the University of Saskatchewan, as both a student and employee. Throughout that time, I continually explored new artistic disciplines including blacksmithing, copper work, clay, soapstone, fused glass, drawing, and painting—mostly through the University of Saskatchewan’s Certificate of Art and Design (USCAD) program. My artistic focus shifted in 2011 when Elizabeth Babyn introduced me to felt making. The process—how layers of wool, combined with water, soap, and agitation, transform into solid felt—seemed almost magical.

I have devoted more than fourteen years to exploring the art of wet felting, focusing on unique wearables and, more recently, sculptural works. I am at the point in my life where I have the freedom to create, explore, and just play.

I live in Saskatoon, Canada. I work out of three different spaces, with our dining room serving as my main studio.
